Thoughts on E3

Unless you've been living in a hole, you must have heard the phrase "E3". Since, E3 ended a short while ago, I thought that I should write down my thoughts about it:

iOS 5 and iCloud:

Despite iOS 5 not exactly being unveiled at E3, but rather Apple's WWDC, I still have some thoughts on it. First of all, way to go Apple for making an amazing new iOS! Also, great job for taking a page from Amazon's book when it comes to Cloud Storage: all files (apps, iBooks, music, etc.) purchased from Apple don't count towards your 5 free Gb's of storage. Another plus is that iOS 5 is PC-free: meaning you don't have to connect it to your computer to recieve updates, or sync to iTunes (similar to AirPlay).

Sony Vita:

Despite looking particularly tantalizing with dual-joysticks, rumors are the most Vita games won't use them. Despite this fall-back, SV's beginning release titles are strong with LittleBIG Planet, Bioshock developers both hinting SV releases come release time meaning that a great amount of titles to back up the SV isn't a problem. Another plus is that Sony announced that the SV will include functionality as a PS3 controller - similar to its predecessor the PSP.

Wii U:

I saved the best for last. As many probably know, Nintendo announced that around the end of 2012, they were going to release the Wii U, the newest and possibly greatest of Nintendo's consoles. Sporting HD video, an new revolutionary controller, and a new powerhouse processor, Nintendo hopes to draw "core and casual gamers alike." Even despite the amazing new capabilities of this console, it might be a busted by the newest industry in electronics: tablets. Yet, don't fret: Nintendo announced that with the new console there is going to be MetalGearSolid , a Zelda title, and even, hold your breath, Assassin's Creed!

My Love for the Penguin

It all started 6 months ago whenever somebody gave me an old Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) Live CD. The timing was perfect: I had just had a wonderful transition to Firefox 3.5.5 and was loving FOSS software. Also, I was in the middle of learning C++, and PHP. Before Ubuntu (Linux), I knew of Macintosh as the only alternative to Windows. So then, I, a Windows Vista user, made the leap to Ubuntu on an old Windows XP box that had seen better days. Amazed by this new OS, started playing around. I was surprised by how easy it was compared to what I had heard from skeptics. I was then addicted to GIMP and started using my Linux programs on Windows Vista (my personal laptop's original OS) and then, after reading some blogs, I wiped dual-booted with Wubi, to 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) - the release before the switch to Unity. Yet, this was only the beginning.
